Fishing on the Space Coast

Brevard County's Space Coast combines the Indian River Lagoon and Mosquito Lagoon — famous for sight-fishing redfish and seatrout on shallow flats — with offshore access through Port Canaveral, one of the busiest sportfishing ports on the East Coast.

The flats around Mosquito Lagoon and the Banana River are well known for tailing redfish in skinny water, best fished on calm, clear mornings. Sebastian Inlet to the south and Port Canaveral to the north both open onto strong nearshore and offshore fishing for kingfish, snapper, and mahi-mahi.

What license do you need for Space Coast?

Florida requires a non-resident saltwater fishing license for anyone 16 or older fishing recreationally in salt water, whether from shore, a pier, or a boat. You choose a 3-day, 7-day, or annual license, fill in your details once, and we email you the official PDF within 1-2 business days. We handle the application with the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission (FWC) so you do not have to. The license is valid statewide along Florida's coast, from the Panhandle to the Keys.
