Freshwater Fishing Around Orlando
Central Florida's lakes around Orlando — including the Butler Chain, Lake Toho, and the Harris Chain further north — are among the best largemouth bass fisheries in the country, along with strong populations of introduced peacock bass in the area's canals. This is freshwater fishing country, well inland from the coast.
Lake Toho near Kissimmee is one of Florida's best-known trophy bass lakes, especially in late winter when big females move onto beds. Orlando's urban canals and retention lakes also hold peacock bass, a colorful, hard-fighting transplant that has thrived in Central Florida's warm water.
Orlando & Central Florida Lakes is a freshwater destination. We currently offer only the non-resident saltwater fishing license issued by the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission (FWC), so there is no license to buy through us for fishing here.
Planning to fish Florida’s coast too?
We handle the non-resident saltwater fishing license for the Atlantic coast, the Gulf, and the Keys.
