Freshwater Fishing Around Ocala
The Ocala area is known for its spring-fed rivers — the Rainbow, Silver, and Withlacoochee — which run gin-clear year-round and support healthy largemouth bass and panfish populations alongside Central Florida's famous freshwater springs. Like the rest of Marion County, this is inland freshwater territory.
The Rainbow and Withlacoochee Rivers are popular for bass and bream from a kayak or small boat, with the clear spring water making for excellent sight-fishing. Rodman Reservoir to the east has long been known among locals as a strong bass fishery.
Ocala & Central Florida Springs is a freshwater destination. We currently offer only the non-resident saltwater fishing license issued by the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission (FWC), so there is no license to buy through us for fishing here.
Planning to fish Florida’s coast too?
We handle the non-resident saltwater fishing license for the Atlantic coast, the Gulf, and the Keys.
