Fishing in the Everglades
Everglades National Park protects one of the largest wilderness fishing areas in the country, from the backcountry flats around Flamingo and Chokoloskee to the mangrove rivers that connect them. Snook, tarpon, and redfish are the classic backcountry targets, alongside freshwater fishing for largemouth bass and peacock bass in the park's interior canals.
The Flamingo backcountry and the Ten Thousand Islands near Chokoloskee are legendary for snook, tarpon, and redfish, best explored with a guide familiar with the park's tides and channels. Freshwater canals along the park's interior roads hold bass and peacock bass for anglers fishing from the bank or a small boat.
What license do you need for The Everglades?
Florida requires a non-resident saltwater fishing license for anyone 16 or older fishing recreationally in salt water, whether from shore, a pier, or a boat. You choose a 3-day, 7-day, or annual license, fill in your details once, and we email you the official PDF within 1-2 business days. We handle the application with the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission (FWC) so you do not have to. The license is valid statewide along Florida's coast, from the Panhandle to the Keys.
